BC Circuit Championship

Started for the 2000 season, the competition committee developed the BC Lifeguard Circuit Championship.  Essentially, this was a means of awarding the team that consistently attended and placed well at regional competitions an award unique from the BC & Yukon Championship Trophy (the Barnsley Shield).

At the first competition of the year, all attending teams are automatically registered into the circuit.  Teams missing the first comp can be registered at any time during the season.  Each competition is divided into "Presence," "Placing," and "Bonus."  NOTE: a stipulation was made that in order for a team to be considered the same team at different comps, it must contain a minimum of 66% of the original members (ie. 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 4 members). The following is a description of the point allotment:

  • 1st - 12 Points
  • 2nd - 10 Points
  • 3rd - 8 Points
  • 4th - 6 Points
  • 5th - 5 Points
  • 6th - 4 Points
  • 7th - 3 Points
  • 8th - 2 Points
  • 9th - 1 Points
  • 10th+ - 0 Points

BONUS

  • Travel Bonus - A team travelling more than 2 hours to attend comp - 2 Points
  • Rookie Bonus - 1 Point per every competition rookie on the team ("rookie" defined as a competitor who has not competed at a Barnsley Championship)
